Expanding and Diversifying Registered Apprenticeship: Creating Inclusive Opportunities for Individuals with Disabilities

Presentation Description:

The power of registered apprenticeship programs lies in their ability to prepare individuals for successful careers while meeting the demands of the evolving job market. However, despite their benefits, apprenticeships have not always been accessible to everyone, including individuals with disabilities. This presentation aims to shed light on the importance of expanding and diversifying registered apprenticeships to create inclusive opportunities for individuals with disabilities. By addressing barriers, showcasing successful models, and fostering collaboration, we can create a more inclusive and diverse workforce that embraces the unique talents of all individuals.

Presenter:

Amber Lamb

Amber lives in Missoula with her husband of 26 years. Together they raised three children and many cats. Amber began her workforce journey as a server/bartender in order to be able to work in the evening when her children were young. Once her children were old enough to attend school, Amber did as well. She graduated with a Paralegal Studies degree from Missoula College of Technology and worked as an office manager for several attorneys. After 5 years of working in law, she was offered a position as an HR Specialist for a staffing agency in the Bitterroot. She jumped into HR with both feet and managed to not only survive but to grow the company she worked for. It was while she worked in that capacity that she became familiar with the MT Registered Apprenticeship Program. As a member of the Ft. Peck Assiniboine Sioux Tribes and a long-time working mother, she is excited to be working with the Department of Labor & Industry to increase Equity and Diversity within the Registered Apprenticeship Program in her home State of Montana.
