PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION:

Rebecca Bruno, Talent Acquisition Specialist, Montana Department of Corrections, will discuss what you can do to support our veterans and become a certified veteran-friendly employer.

Rebecca will provide a 1-hour presentation on how your agency can become part of a newly established Montana Joining Community Forces network!

Currently, any Employer or Veteran Business Owner can deem themselves a “Veteran Friendly Employer” and there is no tracked network of Employers or Veteran Business Owners to help connect our Service Members, Veterans and Spouse (SMVS) to opportunities in the workforce.

The JCF Employer Support Network, consisting of Employers and Veteran Owned Businesses, who have taking initiative and training to be certified veteran friendly employers who are committed to successfully recruiting, training, employing and retaining Montana SMVS by networking posting positions and networking with job seeking SMVS as well as gaining access to comprehensive programs/resources offered through Montana JCF and its Career Key Service Area stakeholders.

We believe that the Employer Support Project will assist in anticipated workforce shortage needs across the state specifically by leveraging the employment training programs and SMVS talent pool that exists in the state and those from outside of Montana considering calling Montana home after Active Duty Military Service.

ABOUT OUR PRESENTER:

Rebecca grew up in California’s Wine Country just 50 miles north of San Francisco.  She attended Montana State University where she cheered for the Bobcats before transferring to the University of San Francisco to finish her degree in international marketing.  Rebecca moved to Helena in 2009 after seeing the impacts of the recession and her parents moving here.  She worked for the Independent Record (IR) as an advertising consultant for almost 10 years specializing in small business, real estate, and employment advertising.  While at the IR, Rebecca was responsible for the career fair at Carroll College for 5 years.  In 2020, she started working with the Montana Department of Corrections where she is responsible for recruiting for all the department’s positions across the state.  She spends a lot of time speaking to veterans about the opportunities available in their agency and is currently very active with the Montana Joining Community Forces (JCF) Employer Support Project.
